OUR MISSION: To support Portland playwrights, foster the craft, and honor the lived experiences of all people.
To this end, the PDX Playwrights admin team will review submitted scripts with a culturally-sensitive lens, striving to reduce the destructive impacts of intolerance, discrimination, and racism. We will not accept scripts that feature sensational violence, advance sexual exploitation, or demean individuals or groups. When a script presented by PDXP introduces potentially triggering themes, we will endeavor to include a content advisory in materials announcing our table reads and events.
We encourage our playwrights to be curious, well-informed, and open to critique. In researching a script, and when revising it, we urge our writers to seek input from those with diverse backgrounds and relevant experiences. Only in this way can we use the craft to deepen our own understanding and promote a wider social justice.
